INSTRUMENTAL
OPPORTUNITY
FOUNDATION

"Music enhances the education of our children by helping them to make connections and broadening the depth with which they think and feel. If we are to hope for a society of culturally literate people, music must be a vital part of our children's education."
- YO-YO MA, CELLIST, GRAMMY AWARD WINNER

INSTRUMENTAL OPPORTUNITY FOUNDATION
Instrumental was established to help improve access to music education for middle and high school students across the state of New Jersey.
We hope that providing musical equipment, educational resources, and mentorship opportunities free-of-charge will help ensure that more public school attendees can discover and matriculate through music programs while gaining the necessary skills to achieve academic success and future economic security.
WHAT WE DO

MEET THE FOUNDER
INSTRUMENTAL OPPORTUNITY FOUNDATION
After participating in strong music education programs in his youth in Augusta, Georgia, Kelson Lumpkin continued on to a successful academic and professional career. His education at West Point and Villanova Law School, his stellar work in the US army as a champion for diversity recruiting, and his dedication to youth community outreach were heavily influenced by the lifelong skills he gained through his childhood music education. This has driven Kelson to start the Instrumental Opportunity Foundation and ensure that middle and high school students have the same access to music education program that helped him succeed and thrive.
